Snow Day

Sunday it snowed like crazy so yesterday was a snow day.  I lazed around all day.  Hawlaane and I stayed in the bed watching movies and TV while I crocheted.  OMG!  I can't wait to post what I have been up to lately but it's a secret.  Guess what, I did finally find the hat that I was working on under the bed.  Here's is my granddaughter Hawlaane hamming it up for the camera.  Yes indeed a glamour shot.  I did go out for my bowling league and sucked.  Should have stayed in the bed where it was cozy and warm.  Plus my car started making a new noise which means more money for the mechanic.  SHOULD HAVE STAYED IN BED. The next blog will be THE SECRET.

One down and many to go....

Finished! I think that the golden yellow was a nice accent for the blue and green. I started the hat three times because I didn't like the pointy top. I went with it though and think that is adds something oriental. When I added the third color, my tension increased so that the yarns were being carried underneath won't show. My fingers were really tired from the tension. And I also burned my thumb from a delicious piece of cinnamon toast. Every time, I eat cinnamon toast, it takes me back to my childhood. Yummy! The tension, the burn and eating cinnamon toast really slowed me down. I really like how it turned. Let me know if you like it!

Throwback Thursday
Mom (circa 1950)
Rosia Lee Baldwin (1932 - 1975)
My mom was a beautiful and very creative woman.  She cooked, sewed, upholstered furniture, made hats, tanned leather and gardened.  It might just be that she was a woman of her time, when women learned to sew, knit, crochet, cook and do everything else that a man didn't do.  Now, as women, we fry up the bacon and bring it home too.  So many of us are so tired at the end of day, we just don't have the time or energy to be creative.  For all you ladies that do make time, God bless you.  As my mom passed it on to me, we must take up the mantle and teach a young woman a craft, something to feed her spirit and keep her sane.  Mom, I miss you.  You didn't get enough time to teach me all that you knew but your creative spirit flows through me. !  When I was little I sat at your feet as you did the must amazing things and I honor you today.  Remembering you still give me a sense that I can do anything.  Thank you, mom.  I still miss you.

Winter blahs

Two hats that I am working on.  There's a third one but it under the bed hiding.  The one on the TOP is a little hat that I am working on for a friend.  (SHOUTOUT to Carla Jean.)  The top is just plain and the design starts on the side.  It is in the waiting stage until I can make sure that it fits.  I'll post the finished product at a later date.  The one on the BOTTOM has a fancy top.  I want to incorporate some other color.  Any suggestions??  Trying to crochet a lot to get rid of the winter blahs.  I am a summer girl.  That's my season.  Sun, beaches and water makes my day.  Oh well that's months away.  Can you beleive this winter?  It's crazy.  It snowed in 49 states in January.  CRAZY WEATHER promotes CRAZY LADY CROCHETING.
