Summertime in the D - Detroit Stories
This past weekend, I spent part of my Saturday in Midtown Detroit aka as Cass Corridor back in the day. It was the anniversary party of Avalon Bakery and a celebration for all the stores that are on the Willis at Cass. Lessons can be learned from this group of business owners.
• They works as a family
• They support each other
• They are adventurers
• They believe that they could make it happen years ago when the only people in Cass Corridor were students, bums and people driving thru with their windows up.
Now it is a great place to pick up a cup of coffee and an organic pastry; pick up some organic fruits; get some fresh gear; buy something unique; pick up a book; see some art and get a natural fashionista hairstyle. I love going down there. You will see new faces and meet up with old friends. When someone moves out of Michigan and comes back to visit, they visit Mom and Dad first and then Willis and Cass. I love Detroit. What I hear on the news is a Detroit that I don’t live. I live in the Detroit, where there is dancing in the street, laughter and beautiful people.

Dreaming......
I have so many ideas, color combination but not enough time. Sometimes I just want to get a room somewhere with all my things, a comfy chair and some chick flicks and go creatively wild. During my self- imposed sequester, I will not be accepting invites, talking on the phone, texting, face booking, working, dancing or dealing with family. Just me, myself and I. I will come out with all the things that's been whipping around in my head. I would have boxes of hats, some refurbished furniture, some tiled works of art, some paintings, some bags, a few garments and a feeling of accomplishment. But a well rounded life won't let me. Understand, I love my life; it’s been a wonderful life. So I will settle for a weekend here or there where I won't go out but enjoy the comfort of my home. If you want to find me, I will be in the back yard working with the sunning beating down on my head. You can come by but don’t stay long because I might get testy.
I made these for a friend to tie dye. Can't wait to see how they turn out.

Spring
Sorry it has been so long but I couldn't find my usb cord for my camera. I swear that I will keep it in the camera case. I am so glad that spring is here but with it has come tumultuous weather. I am praying for all those who lost family members, homes and businesses. These are some pictures that I took around the house.
Tulips dying but they will reemerge next spring, a giraffe that is loosing it's straw because it wasn't met to be rode and a chair that was pea green and stained. All of these items remind me of SPRING.
This is a giraffe from Dakar, Senegal that is hiding from all the children who have tried to ride it |
Found two of these chairs on the curb in front of my neighbor house and redid them |
Some tulips on the their last leg but still beautiful |
